EFFECTS OF DIRECTIONAL WAVES ON THE LOW-FREQUENCY MOTIONS OF MOORED FLOATING STRUCTURES

When designing mooring systems for floating structures, it is very important to consider low frequency motions. In this paper, the authors attempt to explain how directional waves affect the behaviour of moored offshore structures. A simulation program to calculate low-frequency motions of moored floating structures in directional waves using time domain analysis is developed. The results of theoretical calculations are validated through comparison with model tests. Results of the numerical simulations and experiments showed good agreement.
