Under Recognition of Prenatal Alcohol Exposure in a Child Inpatient Psychiatric Setting

on the neurocognitive deficits of prenatally exposed individuals, there is comparatively little research on their psychiatric functioning. However, O’Connor and associates have reported precursors to psychiatric disorders including internaliz ing (depression , anxiety ) and externalizing (hyperactivity, poor impulse control) behaviors as well as insecure attachment relations.
