Local Scour at Integral Bridges with Single and Double Row Piles in a Two-stage Channel

Integral bridges perform well in service, give long-term benefits, reduce construction cost and require less maintenance compared to conventional bridges. A specific objective of the research is to study the relationships of scour depth for integral bridge with one row and two rows piles as a foundation. Time development of the scour for single row and double row pile were also been investigated. Flow intensities also affected the rate of local scour at integral bridges. Scour depth occurred higher at upstream rather than downstream on the abutment of integral bridge. Results show that scour depth was higher for double row pile integral bridge compared to single row pile integral bridge.
