Navier-Stokes Solutions for the Flow Around the "HALIS"-Configuration - F4 Wind Tunnel Conditions -

Reacting flow simulations are presented for the HALIS configuration by using the Navier-Stokes code CEVCATS. The flow is laminar and assumed either in chemical or in thermochemical nonequilibrium. the accuracy of the computed solutions are investigated by grid refinement studies and by comparing numerical results with with available experimental data. The complex 3D configuration is discretized by using about 2000000 cells in the finest mesh. Both, grid convergence and residual convergence are demonstrated. Computation times are in the range of 10-15 h on single processor of NEC SX3-R24 computer. Comparisons of computed results with experimental data detained in the ONERA F6 wind tunnel show significant discrepancies. Moreover, the high temperature effects at ONERA F4 wind tunnel conditions are assessed by comparisons with additional reference.
