Participatory Planning for Flood Mitigation: Models and Approaches

A study on the range of approaches developed to deal with different flood conditions, institutional arrangements and cultural practices with examples drawn from a developed world context in the United Kingdom, United States of America and Portugal is illustrated. A vital characteristic of community-based mitigation is participation of people in analysis of problems and development of proposals.
