Wireless, battery-less stethoscope for wearable health monitoring

A new wearable stethoscope that is both wireless and battery-less is described. The system consists of a sensor and a reader that uses inductive coupling as a method of transmitting the signals. This method enables the sensor to be free of wires and batteries, making it easy to attach to the skin. The transceiver antenna can be worn outside the clothes and the reader unit can be clipped on a belt. This configuration will allow long term wearing of the system to be less bothersome. The system can be used to capture human body sounds such as respiratory sounds for the purpose of continuous monitoring of patients with asthma or other pulmonary diseases.
