Chirp Fourier transform based on a single SAW filter

An original implementation of the well known chirp Fourier transform algorithm is introduced, capable of providing real-time spectral analysis of large-bandwidth signals by means of a single SAW dispersive filter in place of the two filters usually required. The technique has been applied in a range-Doppler system, where the reduction of complexity and cost makes the adoption of the analogue processing unit competitive with respect to alternative approaches. An experimental demonstration of the technique is reported.
