“Curanderismo”: Historical Zootherapy Among Criollo Inhabitants in Rural Areas of Córdoba, Argentina

Background Studying historical sources and comparing them with current data allows us to describe the uses and customs of past human groups, as well as to make a dynamic comparison with the current state of human-environment relations. Also, this contribution focuses on the study of zootherapeutic remedies, which have been much less addressed in ethnoscience than medicinal plant resources. This article presents a compilation and analysis of animal-based remedies included in the category of "curanderismo" in the National Folklore Survey (NFS, Argentina, 1921). Methods The use of 37 individuals or of is and to the use in zootherapy.
