Performance Analysis of Adaptive Pulse Compression in Sea Clutter

With regard to the shortcoming that the sidelobe of matched filter for the classical pulse compression is high and influences the detection of small targets in adjacent ranges, the papers [2] and [3] proposed adaptive pulse compression and analyzed its performance for p3-coded signal in Gauss background. But its doppler tolerance is small and the clutter background for simulation is assumed to be ideal.Accordingly, this paper analyzes the performance of adaptive pulse compression for phase-coded signal modulated by LFM in pulse in sea clutters. The simulation results show that the adaptive method for pulse compression can get low range sidelobe, big doppler tolerance and detection ability for many targets.
