This paper discusses life-size studies recently carried out on advanced crew accommodation features for future space module utilization. The studies are based on exploratory designs for module interiors in which certain elements and equipment comprising the architectural configurations can be manipulated or modified by crews to suit changing on-orbit operational conditions and requirements. The studies were carried out for NASA-Ames Research Center, California between 1986 and 1988 by the authors at the Space Projects Group, Santa Monica, California. Study techniques involved the life-size construction of interior module crew environments and facilities, and development and prototyping of accommodation features and crew equipment.
