Eight-port dual-polarized MIMO antenna for 5G smartphone applications

An 8-port dual-polarized antenna array operating in 2.6-GHz band (2550–2650 MHz) for 5G communication is proposed. The proposed array is composed of four pairs of orthogonally dual-polarized loop type antenna element, and each antenna pair is coupling fed by two independent feeding structures to obtain dual-polarized radiation. The antenna array is mounted on four corners of the main board (a 68 × 136 mm2 FR4 substrate) to get good port isolations. The antenna is simulated and optimized, good port parameters and radiating performances show the proposed array a good candidate for 5G smartphone applications.
