Concept and Related Scientific Problems of Digital Manufacturing

The concept and definition of digital manufacturing are proposed in this paper. And the related basic theories are investigated in detail. A hierarchical structure of digital manufacturing is presented to describe a typical product development system. Moreover, the modeling methods about environment, process and information are emphasized and the related modeling tools are introduced. The development trend of digital manufacturing is also mentioned in this paper.
