Unit commitment considering probabilistic wind generation

In this paper, we investigate the representation of stochastic wind power generation in the unit commitment (UC) problem, which aims to dispatch generators and determine their operating outputs at minimal cost. A computational framework, including both thermal generators and wind farms, is developed. The probability of wind power generation based on the Weibull distribution is included in the proposed model. The optimization problem is solved using interior point method (IPM). The model is tested on a benchmark system involving six thermal units and one wind farm, and a set of numerical case studies is reported. (6 pages)
