Effects of the temperature on the die life during forging process based on numerical simulation

The effect of the temperature on the die life is reflected through the effect on the hardness.Failure analysis of the die of the synchronizer steel ring shows that the temperature on the surface of the die caused by dramatic flow at the gear cavity and heat conduction under high pressure has an extremely important effect on the distortion of the cavity during forging process.In this paper the rules of the temperature on the surface of the die was analyzed during forging process of synchronizer steel ring.Effects of the initial billet temperature,and frictional gene on the temperature of the die are studied.It shows that the higher of initial billet temperature,and the bigger frictional gene,the faster of the temperature of the die rising.Finally the measures of improving the die service life are put forward in the actual production.
