Multi-organizational Structures

The aim of this paper is to present a typology of multiorganizational structures which emerge from the interaction of several organizations or are deliberatively created by them. Resulting from partnerships between organizations, such structures can be found in political, military, and business worlds. The work presented identifies six major defining features for these organizations, which are purpose of partnership, functioning mechanism, collaborative processes, dynamics of membership, lifespan, and control architecture. Implications of each organizational concept on autonomy and cooperation are discussed.
