Cathode charge distributions in multiwire chambers: II. Approximate and empirical formulae

Abstract A summary is given of some approximate theories of the cathode charge distribution in a multiwire chamber. It is shown that a useful existing empirical formula for the distribution may be conveniently expressed in terms of a single parameter; values of this parameter are given, graphically, for a wide range of chamber geometries. This data should prove helpful in the prediction of differential non-linearity in position-sensitive chambers.
