A fast method of braking of induction motor by self-excitation

A simple analytical method for predetermining the performance curve of an induction motor subjected to capacitive braking is developed. The principles of operation, an equivalent circuit, and a simplified digital technique are described. The method has been tested in a digital computer using a program specially developed for this purpose. Braking curves obtained by actual measurements have been compared with the analytical results. The comparison demonstrates the effectiveness of the analytical procedure developed. >
