Advanced phase powertrain design attribute and technology value mapping

The search for achieving maximum product value is a critical factor for any product- orientated business to remain competitive. To achieve the right balance of function vs. cost at the early advanced design phase for selected passenger car powertrain technologies, a trade-off tool is required to decide the correct product configuration using an integrated systems engineering approach. This will create a substantially optimised product offering to the market, reducing overall development costs while achieving customer satisfaction. This paper presents a methodology in defining a technology value map to assess multiple technical options as a function of its attributes, whose precise values can be determined at a given cost.
