Parametric oscillations in distributed power amplifiers

Parametric oscillations in high-efficiency distributed power amplifiers are analysed. Large-signal stability verification based on pole-zero identification is proposed in order to understand the origin of the instability and to choose the optimal value and place of the stabilisation resistor that ensures circuit stability while minimising degradation of circuit performance. The work is illustrated through the stabilisation of a three-stage high-efficiency LDMOS distributed power amplifier.
