Development of Vibration Measurement Unit for Steel Structure Using MEMS Accelerometer

In this paper, focusing on inspecting aged steel structures which are increasing in Japan in recent years, a vibration measurement unit necessary for it was developed. The feature of this unit is that it has a controllable magnet called EPM for adsorption to the steel structure and it is weight which can be carried by the drone. By placing the assembled unit on the beam, we conducted an experiment to compare the accuracy with a servo type accelerometer which is a highly accurate sensor. In addition, experiments by using 4 MEMS accelerometers attached to a beam are performed to determine the mode shape from the acceleration when vibration is applied, and the shape is compared with the shape obtained by numerical calculation.
