First-Order Phase Transitions

The lecture starts with an overview of some of the most important properties of first-order phase transitions and their distinctive features compared with second-order transitions. Then special emphasis will be placed on the finite-size scaling behaviour of first-order phase transitions, which is essential for analyzing and interpreting numerical data obtained in computer simulations.
