Quality in a Global Context: A Framework for Analysis

Until recently, quality in most of the Third World countries was given little or no emphasis. However, today most of these countries are endeavouring to infuse a high degree of quality in their products. This endeavour is proving to be fruitful, which is encouraging more countries to accelerate their efforts to produce higher quality products and services. This article examines how quality management is currently being practised in the newly industrialised countries and in the less developed countries. On identifying the common problems a model will be developed which could commonly apply to most of the developing countries.
