Prolongation of suxamethonium-induced paralysis by propanidid.

The duration of the neuromuscular block produced by suxamethonium 1 mg/kg was determined in patients anaesthetized with either thiopentone or propanidid. The duration of total paralysis of the adductor pollicis muscle was significantly greater by approximately 2 min in those anaesthetized with propanidid. Once recovery commenced there was no difference in the rate of recovery of normal transmission between the two groups of patients.
