Partial discharge locating by means of separate sectional winding current transfer function

Most of criteria for partial discharge locating have based on the injection of a current source, as a partial discharge (PD) source into the inner nodes of a inner transient model of a transformer. A new technique presented in this paper, uses the inner transformer sectional modeling which is specially identified for PD locating purpose. The proposed PD locating method is based on the sectional winding current transfer function (SWCTF). In this paper, at first, the theory of implementation of this technique will be discussed. Then, the SWCTF method is used to identify the model. Finally the validation of the proposed method is performed on a typical case study.
