Dynamic MEC modeling of a linear tubular PM machine

This work is aimed at the modeling of a linear tubular permanent magnet (PM) machine by means of a dynamic magnetic equivalent circuit (MEC). Prior to this, a static MEC is derived and solved in an attempt to cancel the end effect phenomenon. Then, an incorporation of the mover position, the saturation, and the armature magnetic reaction in the MEC is treated. The resulting MEC enables the prediction of the force production capability thanks to simple formulations of the cogging and electromagnetic forces. These have been validated by FEA.
