Semicontrolled Bridge Converters

This chapter presents the singleh and threehphase semihcontrolled bridge converters. This type of converter is commonly referred to as a line commutated converter. The chapter aims to provide a basic background in converter operation without becoming overly involved. For this reason, only the constanthcurrent operation is considered. Finally, the chapter illustrates the derivation of an averagehvalue model of the threehphase semihcontrolled bridge converter. This model can be used to predict the averagehvalue performance during steadyhstate and transient operating conditions.
