A hybrid sequential-parallel approach to accurate circle centre location

Abstract This paper studies practical means of accurately locating the centres of circular objects. The Hough transform approach is in many ways ideal but is rather computation intensive if full account is taken of radial and transverse errors. Overcoming this problem seems impossible if a fully parallel solution is required: however, a partly sequential scheme is derived which retains the advantages of the parallel approach, being fast, robust and highly accurate.
