슬라이스 타입과 제어 흐름 정보를 이용한 H.264/AVC 인코더의 클럭 게이팅

An H.264/AVC encoder provides higher coding efficiency, but its complexity and power consumption is very high. In this paper, module-level clock gating scheme for a hardware H.264/AVC encoder is proposed. Using a slice type and control flow information, the activity of modules is monitored and the modules that is not in active are deactivated with clock gating. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm averagely saves 29.1% of power consumption without R-D performance degradation.
