Ensayos de laboratorio con una población de Steinernema carpocapsae (Filipjev) detectada en larvas de Capnodis tenebrionis L.

SANTOS LOBATON, C ; GARCIA VELA, J. R.; LARA LOPEZ, M. P. y CANALES ROCA, A., 1998: Bioassays with a strain of Steinernema carpocapsae (Filipjev) detected on Capnodis tenebrionis L. Larvae. Bol. San. Veg. Plagas, 24(4): 679-686. The efect of Steinernema carpocapsae (Filipjev) was evaluated for its potential to control several insect species . The strain (SCG.2) was obtained from natural medio parasiting larvae and pupae of Capnodis tenebrionis L. Bioassays was carried out using Petri plates and caused 100% of mortality on inmature individuals. In the first assay hosts cadavers were disected in order to obtain nematodes and they were disected in order to obtain nematodes and they were conservated in 0,1 formaldehide solution at 4 °C. These nematodes were used in a second assay and the cadavers were stored on moist filter paper in Petri plates at 20 ± 1 °C for intermitent observations on the hatching of nematodes up 24 hours after the host died. Results obtained on several imagoes indicates that they could serve as a mechanism for this nematode dispersal.
