Design parameters optimization of a permanent magnet synchronous wind generator

Provided with the reduction of the cogging torque by skewing slots and simultaneously the decent output performance, an analysis of a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the best skewing angle with the lowest cogging torque is found and validated with the finite element method (FEM) software, ANSYS/Maxwell. To overcome the repellence of the cogging torque and back electromotive force (EMF), Taguchi methods and Grey theory are inserted in sequence for reaching the optimization of the multiple quality characteristics to satisfy our design goal.
