DESIGN AND TESTING OF A HIGHWAY CONCRETE BRIDGE DECK REINFORCED WITH GLASS AND CARBON FRP BARS. IN: FIELD APPLICATIONS OF FRP REINFORCEMENT: CASE STUDIES

Presented in this paper is a new and innovative field application of FRP bars as reinforcement for the concrete deck slab of highway bridges. The design, construction details, and test results are provided for Magog River bridge in Canada which is the second in a series of field application research projects using FRP composite bars as reinforcement for concrete structures. This field application contributes to the validation and improvement of the existing design codes and guidelines, establishes construction details, and evaluates the performance of FRP reinforcement under real service loading and environmental conditions.
