Text-Independent Speaker Recognition for Ubiquitous Robot Companion

This paper describes text-independent speaker recognition system which is basic and essential for interaction between users and the robot in Ubiquitous Robot Companion environment. For comfortable interaction between users and the robot, we implement an online speaker enrollment module which trains a GMM for each speaker model and text-independent speaker recognition module which consists of text-independent speaker identification and verification. The task of this system is to recognize one of the family members consisting of four to five persons. A user-specific service can be provided from the results of speaker recognition. Finally, the speaker recognition system is evaluated on speech database collected in URC environment with various distances, and we discuss the results.
