The teaching in higher education requires specific knowledge of the discipline in which it operates, as well as skills and attitudes towards teaching. The aim of this study was to investigate aspects of teacher training that teachers of Accounting Course in a Community Education Institution in Santa Catarina believe are necessary in the teaching-learning process. Thus, a descriptive study was conducted and a structured interview with eight teachers of the course was done. The study sought to highlight issues related to the teaching planning and the aspects of pedagogical training. It was possible to verify that teachers consider essential to overcome the content, diversify teaching methods and exchange experiences with other fellow teachers in order to improve the education, aiming their students learning. Another evidenced factor was the ongoing quest to achieve the ideal profile of teacher, established at Pedagogical Project of the Course.
