Thrombolysin Treatment of Pulmonary Embolism Following Surgery

I)uring the past three years, we have had considerable experience in the use of a fibrinolytic agent,! both in the animal laboratory and in clinical practice. In the laboratory, 105 dog experiments have been performed to evaluate such factors relating to clot dissolution as time elapsing between clot formation and initiation of treatment, optimal dosage of the fibrinolytic agent and evaluation of pertinent laboratory studies. Clinically, we have treated 51 patients, 18 with coronary thromboses, 6 with pulmonary e mboli, 13 with cerebral thromboses, 2 with
