Theoretical Analysis on Distribution Network Loss Based on Load Measurement and Countermeasures to Reduce the Loss

Power grid power loss rate(referred line loss rate) is an important comprehensive technical and economic indicator for the power enterprises, which reflects the planning and design, production technology and operational management level of a power network. The distribution network is a direct service to customers. Distribution network loss reduction and power quality improvement is of great significance to improve the social benefits of electric power enterprises. Reducing power grid loss is one of the targets of building smart grid. Therefore, the methods for loss calculation based on load measurement and theoretical analysis were investigated. Taking the distribution network of Shangyu City Electric Power Supply Company as an example, the power loss was analyzed in detail, and the mechanism of power loss was studied. From the actual situation, measures to reduce the loss were presented, such as optimizing the network structure, distributing the current density of lines properly, replacement of high energy transformers, increasing the reactive power compensation capacity, strengthening the low-voltage lines three-phase load balance management, harmonic suppression and so on. The utilization prospect of spatial load forecasting in distribution network planning was proposed.
