Investignation of Stress Distribution in Marine Auxilliary Steering Gear Member

The paper presents the investigation of stresses in a coupling unit activation member of marine auxiliary steering gear. The experimental 3D photoelastic frozen stress method has been used, and the experimental results have been compared with the results of performed analytical solution. Experimental method, as the contrast to the analytical ones, gives very clear picture of stresses in the analysed member, which is necessary for the correctly analysis of their strength and rigidity.
