SRSN: Secure Routing Based on Sequence Number for MANETs

Security of mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is very important when we deploy MANET in reality. A variety of attacks exist in MANET. Among them is black hole attack which uses higher sequence number of RREQ packet to provide false route information. To defend against black hole attack, this paper proposed a new method, SRSN (secure routing based on sequence number) , which based on the strict increment of sequence number of RREQ packet combined with reliable end to end acknowledgement to detect false route information. SRSN makes a little edition of DSR protocol and can defend against black hole attack without increasing much consumption of resource and payload. Simulation results show that SRSN still can maintain high packet delivery ratio while there is black hole attack malicious node in network.
