AbstractThis paper presents a general procedure for constructing analytical energy functions for network-preserving power system stability models. Canonical
representations of network-preserving power system models are
presented first. It is demonstrated that such canonical
representations can cover existing stability models. Theoretical
results regarding the existence of analytical energy functions for
the canonical representation are derived. In addition, a new
network-preserving model with detailed generator and hybrid load
representations is developed. The corresponding analytical
energy function for the proposed model is studied. Physical
explanations of each term in the energy function are also
investigated.
