EXPLORING THE COGNITIVE PROCESSES UNDERLYING RESPONSES TO SELF-REPORT INSTRUMENTS: EFFECTS OF ITEM CONTEXT ON WORK ATTITUDE MEASURES.

Drawing from recent cognitive theories, we propose that the items surrounding a self-report item, its "item context", prompts context-consistent responses. We test, support, and discuss this proposition and its implications in field and laboratory experiments via different arrangements of JDI items.
