INTELLIGENT VEHICLES : AN INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVE OF THE TRENDS AND ISSUES

In this article, the author examines trends and issues regarding the provision of in-vehicle telematics on an international scale. He briefly looks at the commercial sector for intelligent vehicles and the support and impact of government programs. Current trends in telematics, such as adaptive cruise control (ACC), forward collision warning (FCW) systems, and driver workload managers are discussed. The author also discusses emerging research topics and notes the value of meeting public needs in relation to telematics.
