Shape memory alloy superelastic behavior: 3D finite-element simulations

Due to an unusual macroscopic behavior, the shape-memory alloys lend themselves to innovative applications. Recently, a 3D constitutive model able to simulate the superelastic behavior has been proposed. The implementation of such a model within a finite-element framework is used here to perform the analysis of two shape-memory-alloy structures: a beam under four-point bending and a microstructure for the treatment of hollow-organ or duct- system occlusions (stent).
