Epicardial inverse solutions from body surface Laplacian maps: a model study

We have conducted computer simulation studies to evaluate the epicardial potential inverse solutions reconstructed from body surface Laplacian maps (BSLMs). We used an eccentric spheres heart-torso model to represent the heart-torso volume conductor. BSLMs were simulated by adding Gaussian noise to Laplacian electrocardiographic signals calculated from myocardial electrical sources using the eccentric spheres model. Our simulation results indicate the superior performance of the BSLM-based epicardial inverse solutions as compared with body surface potential map (BSPM) based epicardial inverse solutions, when the same regularization procedure is employed.
