New single-stage, single-switch, soft-switching three-phase SEPIC and Cuk-type power factor correction converters

A new single-stage, single-switch, soft-switching three-phase power factor correction SEPIC and Cuk converters are introduced. The proposed converters operate in discontinuous conduction mode. Therefore, near unity power factor can be achieved. Also, the efficiency is improved because of the achieved zero current and zero voltage switching at turn on and turn off instants. Moreover, the proposed converters have the capability of voltage boosting and voltage bucking. The main features of these converters are simple structure, simple control, high efficiency and low cost. The experimental results are presented in order to justify the performance of the proposed converter.
