A SpecialOperation Mode ofBoomSAR in Application toFoliage Penetration Imaging

BoomSARsystem isaSARdevice embarkedinthe basketofa boomlift, whichprovides a cheapandflexible platform toevaluate theperformance ofradarsystemand signal processing algorithm, especially forfoliage penetration imaging. Thecommon BoomSAR systemmovesalonga straight linetoproduce thesynthetic aperture effect. This paperintroduces a special operation modeofBoomSAR, wheretherotation ofboomlift arm isadopted toforma curving synthetic aperture trajectory. The experimental results showthefeasibility andeffectiveness ofthisspecial operation modeinapplication tofoliage penetration imaging andthetheoretical resolution performance isachieved.
