Improving power system monitoring and control in Russian modern megalopolises

In the paper a new intelligent system for monitoring and control of a complex multi-loop power system operation is developed to warn about dangerous states and emergency situations and prevent them from growing into large-scale blackouts. A feasibility study of this approach has already been undertaken by research group under the project by the Russian Scientific Foundation. This paper outlines some results obtained at the Energy Systems Institute in developing intelligent system for a disaster management in modern power systems with a complex multi-loop structure.
