Fundamental Investigation on Matching Characteristics and Thinned Magnetic EM-Wave Absorber with Periodical Thin Conductive Patterns (Applied Magnetics)

This paper investigates the matching characteristics of a magnetic EM-wave absorber with periodical thin conductive patterns. This structure has the special feature that the matching frequency characteristic can be changed toward a low-frequency region from the original one by simply adjusting the size of the thin conductive patterns without replacing the magnetic absorbing material itself. The effect of the size of the thin conductive patterns, the adjacent space between the patterns and the relation of material constants were clarified for the present absorber by FDTD analysis and experiments. On the basis of matching principle investigated, a thin absorber with a thickness of 2 mm at 2.45 GHz was obtained.
