Simplified model of the ground effect

Noise interaction with the surface of the ground is considered to be the only wave phenomenon that disturbs geometrical spreading. A two-parameter model of the ground effect is developed and adjusted to account for industrial, road-traffic, and railroad noise. The model is founded on the Weyl–Van der Pol solution, which is treated as an exact theory of the ground effect. The adjustment of free parameters requires two simultaneous field measurements.
