Chapter 3 - A Green Evaluation of Existing Analytical Methods

Abstract In this chapter, the evaluation of available methodologies based on the so-called green perspective has been proposed covering from the correct information of the toxicological data of reagents and solvents to be used in a procedure, to the consideration of the operator risks, energy and reagents consumes and waste generation by the analytical methods. An important aspect is to combine both, environmental figures of merit and classical ones, like accuracy, sensitivity, selectivity and precision in order to guarantee the best performance of the method with the minimum side effects.
