Analysis on operation of a low-frame bridge system in automated container terminal

Focusing on FB-ACT study, the article analyses the overall unloading efficiency of the terminals under various configuration plans with different frame bridge system. We analyze the possible variations of the equipments number and the operational range in intermediate FB system, as well as the different ways of the transition between the intermediate FB system and the front operating system, and then summarize five specific working scenarios. Meanwhile, based on the data from an actual automated terminal, the study establishes a corresponding simulation model and compares the terminal operating efficiency in different plans in terms of the operation time when they have to unload the same amount of containers. On the basis of the above research, the paper identifies the key factors influencing the terminal operational efficiency by means of conducting the sensitivity analysis to the most efficient scenario, thus providing a reference for the practical application of this new kind of terminal.
