ELECTRON TUBES FOR CRITICAL ENVIRONMENTS. Project title: ELECTRONIC TUBES AND TRANSISTORS

A literature search of material published prior to November 20, 1957, was made on the design of electron tubes for operation at temperatures up to 500 deg C at high levels of shock, vibration, and nuclear radiation. The materials and techniques that enter into electron tube design are examined, and the effects of high temperature are analyzed. Radiation damage in the tube materials is described. (C.J.G.)
